RESPA President NEA Executive Committee Candidate |
The Executive Board
of the
Redlands Education Support Professionals Association
proudly announces the candidacy of
Paula Monroe for the
Executive Committee of the
National Education Association in 2007
The official declaration will occur at the close of the NEA Representative Assembly in Orlando, FL, July 2006.
The NEA Executive Committee is comprised of six nationally elected members from across the United States. Executive Committee members are elected at the NEA Representative Assembly by the close to 10,000 delegates elected to represent the 2.8 million NEA members. Paula is currently completing her second three-year term on the NEA Board of Directors.
Paula has gone through the recommendation process with the California Teachers Association and, at the January State Council, received a unanimous vote of support – a truly amazing accomplishment. Paula has also received our endorsement as well as the endorsement of Redlands Teachers Association, Yucaipa Calimesa Educators Association, Rialto Education Association, Citrus Belt UniServ Board of Directors, San Gorgonio Service Center Council, Redwood Service Center Council, and the CTA Women’s Caucus. And that is just the beginning.
The campaign begins at the end of the RA this year and ends with the election at the RA 2007 in Philadelphia. It involves travel to all regions of the country and numerous states. The cost of this campaign will be around $40,000. So, as you might guess, there will be lots of fundraising going on and many opportunities for you to help support Paula in this campaign. If any of you have ideas or thoughts about fundraising, be sure to talk to one of the RESPA Executive Board members. We will all be working on this exciting campaign!
In case you don’t know, Paula is a well-known and respected leader across the country. She has received encouragement and support from many state and national leaders. We are very proud of her and also excited about having one of our own serve on the National Education Association Executive Committee. Please join us in supporting Paula and her bid for the office.
